Barbara T. Caffrey, aged 89, passed away on August 8, 2025, at her daughter’s residence in Phoenixville. The widow of the late Eugene L. Caffrey, she leaves behind a legacy of love and family. Born in Phoenixville, Barbara was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Taggart Sr. and Florence M. Hitman.
A devoted member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Spring City, Barbara’s life was shaped by her early education at St. Ann’s School in Phoenixville and her graduation from Phoenixville High School in 1953. Her community involvement and dedication to her faith were central to her identity.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Lawrence E. Caffrey, husband of Katie, and Michael T. Caffrey, husband of Terry. Her daughters include Lisa A. Fresch, wife of Mark, and Barbara A. Caffrey, wife of Denise. The family is further enriched by her grandchildren, Liam Caffrey, Amelia Fresch, and Silas Fresch, as well as her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Shelby Pearl. Barbara is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, reflecting her wide-reaching family ties.
A Memorial Mass to honor Barbara’s life will take place on August 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, located at 3640 Schuylkill Rd., Spring City, PA 19475. Following the service, interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the Southeastern Veterans Center, located at 1 Veterans Dr., Spring City, PA 19475. This gesture reflects Barbara’s commitment to community and service.
