Renowned custom motorcycle manufacturer Bandit9 has unveiled a striking limited edition of the iconic Ducati 821. This bespoke model, named the Bandit9 Ducati 821 Custom, features a meticulously crafted design that redefines the motorcycle aesthetic. Only nine units will be produced, each priced at US$44,900, making this offering not only a powerful machine but also a collector’s item.

The Bandit9 studio, based in Vietnam, is celebrated for its innovative motorcycle designs. This particular project began as a one-off commission inspired by a client’s admiration for the Bandit9 EVE Odyssey. The goal was to create a motorcycle that stands out on mountain roads, and the result is a visually striking masterpiece that is almost unrecognizable from its original form.

Design and Performance Highlights

The Bandit9 Ducati 821 Custom features a seamless body crafted from polished aluminum, free from visible fasteners or mounting points. This design philosophy emphasizes a clean, minimalist aesthetic while enhancing the bike’s overall performance. The motorcycle retains the stock 821cc Testastretta 11° L-twin engine from Ducati, generating an impressive 110 horsepower and 65.8 lb.ft (89.2 Nm) of torque. In its standard configuration, this powertrain accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h).

Complementing its robust engine, the bike incorporates a unique split-body design. Aluminum forms the main reflective surfaces, while carbon fiber is employed for the seat and rear section. This combination not only contributes to the bike’s aesthetic appeal but also improves handling on uneven terrains. Weighing in at 386 lb (175 kg) dry, the Bandit9 Ducati 821 Custom offers a competitive weight for a middleweight motorcycle.

For suspension, the motorcycle utilizes non-adjustable 43-mm Sachs forks in the front and an adjustable Sachs monoshock in the rear, enabling preload and rebound adjustments. Stopping power is provided by dual 320-mm Brembo monobloc radial calipers at the front and 245-mm Brembo discs at the rear. The bike rolls on 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 tires, standard for high-performance sport motorcycles.

A Unique Blend of Art and Engineering

The transformation of the Ducati Monster 821 into this custom piece art is a testament to Bandit9’s craftsmanship. “Every component has been redesigned and hand-fabricated to achieve a singular concept: unity,” states the company. The bodywork has been entirely reimagined, with bespoke features including a custom integrated exhaust, tailored foot pegs, rear controls, fenders, and mirrors.

Notably, every cable is internally routed, and the LED lighting is seamlessly integrated into the body, remaining virtually invisible when not in use. This attention to detail showcases Bandit9’s commitment to both form and function.

The Bandit9 Ducati 821 Custom fits perfectly within the studio’s portfolio, joining other notable creations like the EVE Odyssey, Nano e-scooter, and Supermarine. With only nine units available, each motorcycle will take approximately six months to complete.

While the price tag may exceed that of many cars, enthusiasts and collectors are likely to view this motorcycle as a work of art rather than an everyday ride. It is expected that these limited editions will be displayed as prized possessions, celebrating the fusion of exceptional engineering and artistic expression.
