Amber Jean Rowan is bringing her bespoke wig service to the United States with a pop-up event at the SoHo House in Austin, Texas, from October 28 to November 2, 2023. This initiative follows a series of successful pop-ups in cities like Dublin, Edinburgh, and Copenhagen, marking the company’s first appearance on American soil. To further enhance customer experience, Rowan is set to launch a wig rental service next month, allowing clients to try out various styles for durations of three days, six days, two weeks, or four weeks.

Rowan, the founder and chief executive officer of Amber Jean, began her journey in the wig industry in 2021, inspired by her own battle with hair loss due to alopecia, which started at the age of 15. “The idea of having to wear a wig was literally the most triggering and challenging thing you can even imagine,” she recalled. Her experiences included visiting numerous specialists and exploring various treatments, all while seeking a suitable wig option.

The transition from struggling with hair loss to creating a supportive environment for others has been significant for Rowan. After years of modeling and acting, during which she often struggled to find quality wigs, she launched a blog titled “Hair Free Life.” The blog provided advice and discussed the emotional and physical impacts of hair loss, whether from alopecia, cancer treatments, or other conditions.

Custom Wigs and Empathetic Support

The Amber Jean pop-up in Austin aims to offer a welcoming and informative experience for customers. Attendees can book consultations to try on a range of wigs tailored to their needs. After selecting a style, Amber Jean will craft a custom wig that matches the client’s specific fit, cut, and color, delivering it within six weeks. Rowan emphasized the importance of simplifying the process for newcomers to the wig industry, saying, “When you enter this wig world and it’s so new to you, it’s so overwhelming.”

Rowan’s vision extends beyond this initial event. She has plans for additional pop-ups in major cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, Paris, Barcelona, and Sweden, over the next year. Furthermore, she is preparing to open a permanent shop in her hometown of Dublin in the summer of 2026.

By establishing this supportive community and providing high-quality products, Amber Jean Rowan is making strides in the hair loss industry, aiming to empower and uplift women facing similar challenges.
