AJ Lee is set to make her highly anticipated return to WWE this Saturday, November 29, 2023, at the Survivor Series event in San Diego’s Petco Park. After a lengthy hiatus since her retirement in 2015, Lee’s comeback match saw her team up with her husband, CM Punk, to secure a victory against fellow wrestling couple Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. As she prepares for her next match in the WarGames format, Lee is prioritizing her mental health and taking a measured approach to her WWE schedule.

In a recent episode of Stephanie McMahon’s podcast, “What’s Your Story?”, Lee spoke candidly about her return to the ring. She emphasized the importance of not overcommitting and ensuring that her experience with WWE remains positive. “There was this world in which it was just like a one-and-done. Where it was just like, come back and have fun and, like, see how you feel,” Lee said. She reflected on her previous tenure, noting that her last year had been particularly challenging mentally.

Lee is cautious about the commitments she takes on this time. “I have been a little trepidatious in like what I’m committing to and what I can handle,” she explained. The excitement of participating in WarGames, alongside a talented group of women wrestlers, is a significant factor in her decision to return. She expressed admiration for her fellow competitors, stating, “I’m a fan of all of them. Like, I’ll be so happy to just be surrounded by them and get to like work with them.”

The upcoming WarGames match will feature Lee teaming with Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss. They will face off against a formidable lineup, including Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend. Lee remarked on the evolving landscape of the women’s division since her initial stint with WWE, noting that the current roster is filled with diverse talent that goes beyond physical appearance.

“To see every single woman on the roster is so talented and different and special. And their looks are like the 10th most interesting thing about them,” Lee stated. She expressed her enthusiasm for sharing the ring with women she would have admired as a child, highlighting the progress made in the industry.

Survivor Series is set to begin at 19:00 Eastern Time, with the event available for viewing live on the ESPN app in the United States and on Netflix in other regions. As AJ Lee prepares for this next chapter in her wrestling career, she is focused on enjoying the experience while maintaining her well-being.
