Adin Ross has faced a setback in his attempt to dismiss a subpoena related to the ongoing defamation case involving Megan Thee Stallion. Ross had previously claimed that he was served with legal papers by a mariachi band, a story that many initially found hard to believe. However, this unusual method of serving legal documents was confirmed to be true.
On September 16, 2023, Ross filed a motion to dismiss the subpoena, which was part of Megan’s case against blogger Milagro Gramz/Cooper. The same day, he was scheduled to be deposed. In the motion, Ross reiterated his previous account, explaining that on August 28, 2023, a mariachi band performed outside his home in Florida to attract him so he could be served. The subpoena required him to provide documents and to be deposed regarding the case.
Ross’s security guard received the subpoena instead of him directly, which led to Ross and his legal team arguing that it was improperly served. In their motion, they characterized the subpoena as overly broad, referring to it as a “fishing expedition.” They stated, “The Complaint in this action makes no mention of Mr. Ross whatsoever,” highlighting that the dispute between Megan and Gramz does not involve any facts that would implicate Ross or suggest he has relevant information.
The case took a further turn when Judge Lisette Reid denied Ross’s motion to dismiss. She emphasized that Ross needed to engage with Megan’s legal team before approaching the court regarding the subpoena. This ruling illustrates the procedural requirements in legal cases, particularly regarding depositions and subpoenas.
Ross is not alone in facing legal scrutiny. Fellow streamer DJ Akademiks was also deposed in connection with Megan’s case earlier in August, where he controversially labeled the rapper a “liar.” Both Ross and Akademiks have shown their support for Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan in 2020.
As this case progresses, the implications for those involved continue to unfold, drawing attention to the complexities of legal procedures in high-profile disputes.
